In today’s Minutes to Remarkable™ I discuss the important Appropriate qualities my visual aids must have.

Using appropriate visual aids can be a challenge, especially for a prop lover like myself! In order to use the best type of visual aids for the client, I often ask them if they have preferences.

I try hard not to assume since I have been surprised at their responses in the past. For example, I found a technical audience actually enjoyed flip charts and markers, another preferred no visual aids.

Adjusting the appropriateness of your visual aids doesn’t mean the same thing as sacrificing the integrity of your program, especially if you think you have a powerful segment that may use a type of visual aid not preferred by the client.

Unless you’re certain your visual aids pack the appropriate punch, don’t use them. Try out your material before it gets to a paying client gig.
